Thank you for considering donating to this initiative which places books by diverse voices on bookshelves, classrooms, and Little Free Library locations around the West Georgia area. Books include those on racial justice, LGBTQ+ related subjects, banned and challenged books, history, classics, fiction, graphic novels, memoir, children's books, and more.
Since early Summer 2020 this fund has enabled us to distribute hundreds of books throughout our region, including books like A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, an inspiring novel about Sudanese refugees, and I Am Malala: Young Readers Edition by Nobel Peace Prize winner and champion for girls' education Malala Yousafzai, distributed to over a hundred local high school students for summer reading and hundreds of both print and audiobook copies of Stamped: Racism, Anti-Racism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi. We've also supported Atlanta-based books-to-jail nonprofit X Books in placing 200 copies of John Lewis' March: Book One in the hands of incarcerated people in our state.
Past recipients of donated books include local elementary school classrooms, Little Free Libraries, Villa Rica High School, people incarcerated in the state of Georgia, and the West Georgia Regional Library System. With your help, we hope to get more books, in both print and audio formats, that advance free thinking, representation, and equality in front of readers throughout our region. Item #5736
