Moderate edgewear and soiling to binding, with open tears at head and tail of spine, bumping to corners, and rippling to boards and pages due to water damage. All edges gilt. Soiling to bottom edge of text block. Hinges a touch tender. Previous owner's name pencilled to front free endpaper. Binding remains sound. Heavy foxing to pages throughout, occasional unobtrusive dampstains to margins, else unmarked. A worn but quite solid copy of this exploration of ways and means of fulfilling evangelical duty by Sarah Schoonmaker Tuthill Baker (1824-1906), who wrote many popular Christian children's books under the penname of 'Aunt Friendly.'.
