Rather heavy edgewear to dust jacket, with small closed tears to edges, scattered rubbing, and dust soiling to rear. Dust jacket unclipped, with line through price. Half blue cloth with green paper over sides. Upper board stamped in gilt and spine lettered in gilt with purple designs. Rather heavy edgewear to binding as well, with edges rubbed to boards in some places and rubbing to purple on spine. Yellow topstain. Foxing to edges of text block. Large H stamped to front free endpaper, else pages clean and unmarked. Binding is sound. A solid, if worn, first American printing of Mariano Picon-Salas' critique of contemporary civilization, art, politics, and public philosophy. Good / good. Item #2168
