Admittedly worn and having lost its rain jacket on its way across the nearly 50 years, this is still a quite presentable 1978 first printing of Cotton Candy on a Rainy Day, a pivotal and poignant work in the career of globally beloved poet Nikki Giovanni (1943–2024), a defining voice of the Black Arts and Civil Rights movements of the 1960s and 70s, recipient of the Langston Hughes Medal, the inaugural Rosa L. Parks Woman of Courage Award, the American Book Award, and seven-time winner of the NAACP Image Award.
Stated First Edition, with full number line indicating First Printing. 8 1/2" X 5 5/8". 93pp. Lacking dust jacket. Bound in pink paper over boards, with spine backed in black cloth and lettered in silver. Moderate soiling and wear to binding, with scattered mottling to boards and gentle rubbing to spine.
