ABOUT THIS BOOK:
This book is an extension of the article on the same subject which the author wrote for the second edition of Kinnier Wilson's "Neurology". However, the objects in writing this book have been different. Firstly, Sir Russell has given a comprehensive account of a subject of such general interest, discussing theories of the origin of speech and its development in the child as well as its normal psychophysiology and breakdown in aphasia. The whole is written in the spirit of a critical review founded on particular theses- that the key to the understanding of speech and its pathology is a physiological one, physiology being the link between the anatomy of the brain and psychology.(Publisher).
