London: The Folio Society, 2012.
Second Printing. Hardcover. 9 1/2" X 6 1/2". xxi, 745pp. Presents nicely with accompanying publisher-issued slipcase in dark green, showing only light shelfwear. Quarter-bound in brown buckram by Lachenmaier, with spine lettered in gilt and cloth sides blocked and printed with a design by illustrator Angela Barrett, featuring a man in gilt disappearing in a field of gold. Very faint dust soiling and some light rubbing to edges and extremities. Faint dust spotting to edges of text block. Heavy text block does put weight on the binding, which remains quite firm and sound. Previous owner's stamp in blind to title page. Pages are clean and unmarked. A presentable Folio Society edition of this classic of Russian literature, considered by many the greatest novel ever written. Tolstoy's Anna Karenina is here beautifully presented in pictorial cloth with accompanying slipcase, introduced by Helen Dunmore, and illustrated in frontispiece and 14 beautiful color plates by Angela Barrett. Very good. Item #7901
