Scrapbook of Newspaper Clippings From the Late 1880s, Variety of Sources & Topics

1888.

13" x 11". 132pp. Previously bound together the signatures are now generally coming unbound, with the edges brittle and chipping. A completely filled 132 page scrapbook of newspaper clippings on a variety of topics, apparently whatever articles or anecdoted aroused the interest or curiosity of the creator. The cover, if there ever was one, is absent. Dates scattered throughout tend to be late 1880's, though it is possible some are later. A previous researcher left sticky note notations scattered throughout, identifying certain topics featured within such as: Columbus, Washington, Gilbert Stuart, early Massachusets fathers not believing in paint, medicine of sunshine, Jefferson anecdotes, physician's rules of health for the heated term (hot weather living), signers of Declaration of Independence, cures for obesity, the timing of the tides, chronologies of inventions and their inventors, death on the stage, flower worship, the dangers of camphor and peppermint oils, a New Zealand Geyser, Paris Fine Arts Exhibit, first historical appearances of Gypsies in Europe, Ventriloquism, Negros of Columbus Georgia, odd old epitaphs, cursing in Ireland, and much much more. Poor. Item #7155
