Circa 1870s Pair of Ulysses S. Grant CDV Cards

Loose_leaf. This pair of circa 1870s cartes-de-visite measure 4" X 2 1/2" and are entitled "Grant in Peace" and "Grant Family." "Grant in Peace" is taken a lithograph portrait published by Joseph Ward of Boston and features Grant in repose, holding a young girl, with a cigar in his left hand and with his Newfoundland dog Rosie at his right. "Grant Family" depics Grant holding a newspaper with his wife, daughter, and three sons around him. Mild edgewear to CDV mounts, with light soiling to versos. Light soiling also shows to recto of "Grant Family." Pencilled note to verso of "Grant in Peace." Bottom edge of "Grant in Peace" is not straight. Overall a well-preserved pair of these circa 1870s cartes-de-visite featuring President Ulysses S. Grant. Very good. Item #7038
