A statement in ink to front pastedown tells the story of the original owners of this book, a Mr. and Mrs. Charles Louis Mylius who bought this book when honeymooning at Mammoth Cave in the Fall of 1898. 2 1/2" closed tear to inner bottom margin of pages 47-54. An admittedly worn but complete and still quite presentable 1897 printing of Horace Carter Hovey and Richard Ellsworth Call's illustrated guide to Kentucky's Mammoth Cave, including historical notes, scenic accounts, and descriptive and scientific matters of interest for visitors based on new and original explorations, illustrated in many monochrome photographic reproductions throughout and in a fold-out map at rear. This particular copy's unique and tender provenance adds to the delights within. Fair. Item #6420
