This is a handsome 19th century edition collecting Dante's Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, certain to entice you into the darkest depths and heavenly heights of one of the greatest works in all the literary canon.
8 1/4" X 5 3/8". viii, 760pp. Bound in full dark green cloth over boards, with stylized lettering and laurel wreath stamped in gilt to upper board and spine lettered in kind. Moderate wear to binding, with bumping to corners and head and tail of spine, faint stains and spots of heavy rubbing to rear board, and scratch to spine. Previous owner's name of Marian F. Strauss to front pastedown, and her pencilled cursive annotations to pages throughout and to rear endpapers. Front hinge a touch tender; text block slightly shaken. Binding remains sound. A solid and presentable 1895 printing that has seen some wear in its 125 years. Good. Item #6226
