These 18 issues of The Lesbian Review of Books span from 1994 to 1999 and hold reviews of the work of Alison Bechdel and Jacqueline Woodson, reviews of scholarly, reference, and nonfiction works, with regular sections reviewing lesbian writing around the world, fiction, mystery, romance, and erotica, as well as explorations of transsexual lesbian performance art, lesbian humor, lesbian sport fiction, lesbian and gay picture books, lesbian/dyke/queer musics, recent lesbian writing in the South Pacific, Britain, and Croatia, in science fiction and buddhism, among Black and Asian-American lesbian communities, poetry by Ally Acker, Terry Wolverton, and Kitty Tsui (the first known Chinese American lesbian to publish a book), advertisements for lesbian publishers and publications like Naiad Press and Sinister Wisdom, a cartoon about commitment ceremonies and marriage equality by Kirsten Zecher and Lori Priestley, classifieds with calls for submission, scholarships, vacation rentals, and conferences, and more, all forming a vibrant and robust record of lesbian scholarship in the mid-to-late 1990s.
