Wear to binding, with tear to cloth and board at left top corner of upper board, tears to head and tail of spine, corners split and turned in, and scattered rubbing and soiling. Pencilled note to front free endpaper. Heavy foxing and toning to frontispiece and title page. Rear hinge tender. Binding remains sound. Occasional foxing and toning to pages throughout, else unmarked. Tissue-guarded frontispiece of a painting by Carl Rungius and photographic plates by Suydam Cutting and Kermit Roosevelt throughout.
