Rather heavy wear to binding, with small tears to cloth at edges and extremiteis, bumping and splitting of paper at corners, and mild soiling and foxing. Hinges very tender. Binding remains sound. Thoroughly annotated in blue ink to every page. Previous owner's name to front free endpaper. An admittedly quite worn but solid 1908 printing of the work of philosopher and theologian Paul Carus by Open Court Publishing Company, where Carus acted as first managing editor. Fair. Item #4911
