Green patterned paper over boards, with spine backed in black morocco leather and lettered in gilt. Moderate wear to binding, with corners bumped and rubbed, edgewear, and toning to patterned paper. Small inkstain to top edge of text block, with light foxing to edges. Gift inscription and previous owner's name to flyleaf. Light scattered foxing and toning to pages and plates throughout, pages otherwise unmarked. Binding is firm and sound. A very handsome 1918 printing of Flora Annie Steel's (1847–1929) retelling of the classic English fairy tales, including favorites such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack the Giant-Killer, The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and many more, illustrated throughout in frontispiece and fifteen lovely color plates by the great Arthur Rackham (1867–1939), as well as numerous charming in-text illustrations.
