Philadelphia: The Penn Publishing Company, 1910.
First Edition. Hardcover. 7 3/4" X 5 1/4". 336pp. Red cloth over boards, with die-cut pictorial label to upper board and upper board and spine lettered in white. Moderate wear to binding, with hard bumping to edges and corners, all turned in, small tear to tail of spine, sunning to spine, scattered rubbing, and mild soiling. Scratching and small tear to pictorial label. Lean to spine. Hinges tender. Binding remains sound. Rather dramatic creasing to pages throughout, which appears to be from hard bumping to corners of text block. Small dampstain to rear endpapers and faint dampstain to margin of last hundred pages. Pages are otherwise unmarked. An admittedly worn but still charming first printing of this Ashton-Kirk mystery, illustrated throughout in color frontispiece and three black and white plates by Ralph L. Boyer. Fair. Item #4077
