Bound in full green cloth, with pictorial label to upper board and upper board and spine beautifully stamped in red, black, and gilt. Moderate wear to binding, with corners turned in, tears to cloth at corners and head and tail of spine, scattered rubbing, and mild soiling to rear board. Slight lean to spine. Hinges a touch tender; binding remains sound. Bookplate to front pastedown, a Christmas gift from Bedford Avenue Reformed Church, dated 1875. Previous owner's names to front free endpaper and half-title. Small tear to front free endpaper and half-title. 4 1/4" closed tear to leaf containing pages 165, 166. Moderate foxing to pages throughout, else unmarked. A truly charming circa 1875 children's story book, illustrated throughout in 150 black and white illustrations.
