First Edition. Hardcover. 7 7/8" X 5 1/2". 278pp. Red cloth over boards with upper board lettered in blind and spine in gilt. Moderate wear to binding, with bumping to corners, mild soiling, small open tears to head and tail of spine and edge of spine at rear board, and cover wear. Spots of soiling to fore-edge. Rear hinge tender. Stamp to front pastedown: "Compliments of the Publisher." Binding is sound. Occasional spots of foxing and dog-earring to pages. A worn but solid first edition. Erma Ehrlich Levinger (1887 – 1958) published over thirty books, served as editor of the magazine Jewish Child, and was a member of the National Council of Jewish Women’s National Committee on Religion, the National Council for Prevention of War, the Birth Control League, and Hadassah. Her work focused on encouraging Jewish cultural identity during a time of great pressure for American assimilation. Good. Item #2962
