Item #2882 Normal Bean Number 4. Roland Trenary, Philip Jose Farmer.

Normal Bean Number 4

Minneapolis: Roland Trenary, 1981.

First Edition. Staplebound wraps. 11 1/8" X 8 1/2". 74-95pp. Staplebound light blue pictorial textured paper wraps, featuring Awina Traversing Wurutana from The Stone God Awakens to front and "Man Leaping Thark" to rear. Moderate edgewear to binding, with light sunning and small tears to spine. Pages musty. Titled in homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs, who briefly wrote under the pseudonym Normal Bean--the story goes that he submitted under "Normal Bean" but an editor incorrectly corrected it to "Norman"--this magazine ran for seven issues, featuring a graphic novelization of Philip Jose Farmer's The Stone God Awakens (this issue containing part five), the work of Mahlon Blaine, reviews of Edgar Rice Burroughs' novels, and a serialization featuring The Qiguos (this issue containing part five). This issue also features a small pictorial tribute to John Lennon, who had recently passed. Rare, with OCLC showing no holdings for this issue. Very good. Item #2882
