Heavy wear to dust jacket, with jagged 2" open tear to right of head of spine and 1" wide to tail, open tear along edge of rear flap, chipping at corners, small tears along edges, and moderate dust soiling. Price of $1.50 to front flap (pencilled over) and rear panel. Green cloth over boards, with upper board and spine lettered in black and color pictorial label to upper board. Jagged open tear to right edge of upper portion of spine with punctures to left side. Very heavy rubbing to tail of spine and right side bottom edge of text block. Fraying to edges from heavy edgewear. Hinges tender. Previous owner's name to front pastedown, with label of Cole Book & Art Co. Foxing to endpapers, frontispiece, title, and introductory pages, else pages age-toned but clean and unmarked. A very worn, but complete probable first edition of this 16th book in Alice Turner Curtis' The Little Maid Historical Books series, in original dust jacket with frontispiece and two illustrations by Hattie Longstreet Price.
