Dust soiling to edges of text block. Binding is sound. Gift inscription to front free endpaper dated October 1948. Pages are clean and unmarked. Pages 602 and 603 toned due to laid in newspaper clipping announcing the publication of the novel and the sale of the film rights to Warner Brothers. A solid signed copy of Foster Fitz-Simon's novel set centering around the North Carolina tobacco industry, which was made into a 1950 film starring Gary Cooper, Lauren Bacall, and Patricia Neal.
