This handsome circa 1920s edition of Charles Dickens' personal favorite of his novels comes illustrated in 20 tipped-in full color plates by Frank Reynolds, each with a descriptive, captioned tissue guard, pictorial endpapers, in its uncommon original dust jacket, and a gift inscription from Christmas 1927.
11 1/2" X 8 1/2". [iv], 572pp. Presents nicely in protective archival sleeved dust jacket. Moderate wear to unclipped dust jacket, with shallow chipping to edges and extremities, bumping to corners, and mild toning and soiling to panels. Bound in bright red cloth over boards, with cameo of David Copperfield's childhood silhouette to upper board, stamped and lettered in gilt and black, with spine lettered in gilt. Mild wear to binding, with bumping to extremities, bottom corners split, and small faint stain to top corner. Rear hinge a touch tender; binding remains firm and sound. Pictorial endpapers. Gift inscription dated Xmas 1927 to front pastedown. Occasional scattered foxing to pages, else clean and unmarked. Complete in 20 tissue-guarded color plates. Very good / very good. Item #17182
