The Chicago Teachers Federation (CTF) was founded in 1897 as a professional association to represent teachers in the Chicago Public Schools. By the early 1900s, the CTF began to shift its focus towards labor organizing and advocating for better working conditions and pay for teachers. In 1902, the CTF went on strike for the first time, demanding higher wages and better working conditions. The strike was successful and helped to establish the CTF as a powerful labor organization. Throughout the 1910s and 1920s, the CTF continued to advocate for teachers' rights and better education policies. Good. Item #12825
