1924 Letter on Hotel Pantlind Stationery [Grand Rapids, Michigan]

Grand Rapids, Michigan: 1924.

Loose_leaf. Two 9 1/2" X 6" sheets, folded in thirds, with Hotel Pantlind letterhead, including vignette of the hotel, with letter written in ink to rectos only. Mild wear to letterhead, with some edgewear, light age-yellowing, and faint foxing to versos. Letter is dated January 13, 1924, to a Miss Brougham from Ada L. Grisson, arranging a visit with the former in New York City. Founded in 1913, the Pantlind Hotel boasted popular Beaux-Arts architecture and one of the largest gold leaf ceilings in the world. This letter was penned just a year after a 189-room addition was made to the hotel on Lyon Street, and another year later, in 1925, the Pantlind was named as one of America's top 10 hotels. After renovations in 1981, the Pantlind Hotel reopened as the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, which it remains to this day. This is a well-preserved, nearly 100-year-old letter, penend by a guest on the Pantlind's beautiful stationery. Good +. Item #11021
