Spine lettered in gilt with floral gilt compartment and gilt fleur-de-lis. Toning to endpapers. Binding is firm and sound. Pages are clean and unmarked. This bright and handsomely bound edition of Honoré de Balzac's comic stories is illustrated throughout in forty-eight full page illustrations by French lithographer and caricaturist Albert Robida (1848–1926).
